Securities (Stock) Giving - When you gift stock and other securities, your donation is a gift of Hope that is a win-win for you and MARKINC without taking cash directly from your bank account. When you give appreciated securities you have held for more than one year directly to MARKINC through your broker, the value of your gift is the fair market value of the security on the date it is transferred instead of your basis. The advantage is that you will NOT have a taxable long-term capital gain, and you WILL get a tax deduction for the donation.
