I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
Isaiah 45:2-3
Our tendency when reading this scripture might be to conclude that God is promising to "fix" our difficult circumstances; that is, heal the cancer, bring the prodigal child back home, resolve family conflicts, etc. A closer reading reveals a much deeper and greater promise. Rather than a promise to make everything right from our perspective, God declares that He will reveal treasures in the darkness, riches that are hidden from every day sight. His purpose in these treasures and riches is not to make us happy as we define happiness, but to draw us closer to Him, to prove the promise of His presence, to encourage and strengthen us in the knowledge that God knows us personally - He calls us by name.
When God calls His children to walk through a valley of suffering, He does not call them to do it alone. The Body of Christ must minister to the suffering and brokenhearted - both inside and outside the church.
The resources showcased on this page are designed not only for the person who is suffering but also to equip others to walk with the broken hearted. The message of Christ found in these resources will encourage, equip, and energize you to live life through the truth that God is sovereign and you can trust Him - even, perhaps especially, in the d arkness.
