This 2CD set is designed to help families prepare for, and deal with the challenges of separation during war-time deployment.

On Disc one, Dr. Chuck Betters and his wife, Sharon, interview a husband and wife whose marriage was severely tested by stress of the husband's deployment. During their frank discussion, the discussion, the listener becomes aware of the struggles on the home front as well as in-theater. Although these trials are difficult, they can be overcome. This interview prepares couples for that process.

Disc two is an interview with a 20 plus year career officer. War-time deployment is examined from the perspective of the entire family. As Dr. Betters and Sharon interview this veteran of multiple deployments, his wife and their teenage daughter, the listener can gain keen insight on how to prepare for “War and the Family.”

The hidden wounds of war - those that wound the spirit  - are addressed in this resource.

On Disc One, Dr. Chuck Betters and his wife, Sharon, interview Captain Nate Self, the hero of the Battle on Robert’s Ridge in Afghanistan. This gripping interview depicts a life and death struggle during a 15 hour battle where seven men lost their lives valiantly fighting on top of a snow covered mountain. As the interview weaves from the battlefield in Afghanistan to the battle against Post Traumatic Stress, the devastation caused by this problem becomes vividly clear. The responses from Nate Self and the concluding words of Dr. Betters will inspire those who are dealing with, or those who know someone dealing with, the hidden wounds of war.

On Disc Two, Dr. Betters and Sharon continue to probe Post Traumatic Stress. Throughout this disc they interview a registered nurse with the Department of Veterans Affairs, two veterans from the Viet Nam War, and two veterans who have recently served in the War on Terror. These veterans respond with specific solutions and real answers that will surely benefit those struggling with the “Demons of War.”   The Demons of War resource addresses Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. (Listen to Dr. Betters discuss PTSD in this radio interview with Chris Daniels on KMJ and read Sharon’s blog on this resource.

"U.S. Military asks psychiatrists and psychologists to donate time to help military personnel deal with the issues of war" ...

was a 2008 news headline that revealed the serious impact of war on our military men and women.  The initial goal was to develop a resource that offers help and hope to these returning heroes.  We quickly realized that preparing yourself and your family relationships for war-time seperation greatly impacts the coming home from war transition.
