Building a Strong Foundation
LindaFor anything to endure it must be built on a good, solid foundation. The wise man builds his house upon rock. Only a fool builds upon sand. One foundation stands against all oncoming storms... the other can not stand against shifting tides. The Church of Jesus Christ is built upon the solid foundation of the Word of God spoken through the prophets and the apostles. The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord, God’s only Son. This foundation is solid, enduring, unchanging, strong. The very gates of hell cannot prevail against it. The scriptures speak often about building... building the temple, building the walls around Jerusalem - purposeful work, intentional work, well-directed... with specific goals in mind. Why all of this talk about building? What does a strong foundation have to do with women’s Bible studies?
Whether you are building, rebuilding, or expanding your women’s ministry, there are foundational issues that will either support an enduring ministry or expose that ministry to potential collapse under adverse conditions. In a world of shifting ideals where belief systems are open to constant reinterpretation and women’s lives are unsettled and often stretched to their limits, the foundation upon which we build our women’s ministries matters.
This month we highlight a systematic means to partner with your church leadership to build a strong foundation for the women of your church. Because of the significance of women’s ministry, the “Women In the Church” or "WIC" of the Presbyterian Church in America, has developed and adopted a WIC Core Curriculum. It is a doctrinally sound, strong, systematic means of building a biblical women’s ministry and it’s message goes beyond denominational walls. It is now available to all women’s ministries. It is made up of a series of five purposeful, intentional, well-planned Bible Studies. Each book represents a core scriptural truth that will encourage women to see all of life through the grid of scripture. It is a broad and comprehensive resource that examines basic foundational and practical issues. Each of the books is well written and thoroughly Scriptural, yet easy to read and practical. Each provides careful explanations and heart-warming true stories that make the principles easy to understand.
These books are a must-read for your women’s leadership. Each is designed for small group Bible study. A leader’s guide is available for each and makes them very practical for small-group study. Click here for a summary on Biblical Foundations for Womanhood.
