Did God, when he planned and created me before the foundations of the universe also planned a marriage partner for me, or is it a free choice that He will bless after I have prayerfully made my choice?

Obviously, since we believe God is sovereign and all knowing we must also believe that He has the exact right person for us. As we walk with the Lord in prayer and in the study of the word He guides our thoughts and leads us to the right person. It is when we compromise core values that we end up making wrong choices and could likely marry the wrong person. Core values include dating only a growing believer who does not have an unscriptural divorce in his or her past. It includes similar church backgrounds so that there can be true religious unity. It includes becoming accountable to other believers who are more mature than you are spiritually so that you might receive their counsel concerning the possibility of the relationship. It is not a decision that should be made alone. Pastor, friends, your mate’s friends, men and women of accountability, etc. I hope this helps.
