"We're very pleased to be airing his sermons over the Pilgrim Radio Network - they've ministered to so many through the years.  Incidentally, just yesterday I shared your resource "When M.S. is Your Constant Companion" with a part time staff member here who's had M.S. for 20 years.  He was very encouraged to hear it."

"I came across your radio version of "In His Grip" about four months ago, completely by chance, on 95.3 FM on my way into work...I want to let you know how much I feel that I have learned from this series and how comforting, inspiring, and motivating your sermons are...During my four or so months as a listener, I have heard you preach on a great variety of topics such as marriage, general respect or lack thereof in this modern world, how the world is changing, getting through painful times in your life (such as your early courtship with Sharon and the death of your son, Mark).  I agree with and enjoy learning from your words and conservative approach to preaching....I thank you for your ministry "In His Grip" and I will continue to be a huge fan, of another faith, in South Jersey."

"I prayed for the Lord to lead me to material for my new mentoree. Yesterday, I learned of her husband's adulterous relationships.  I've been surfing the web for resources for her. I see many that sound good, but then I'd see that they weren't, so on I'd move on. Then, boom!  I'm faced with the introductory message that Sharon wrote 5 years ago and this wonderful broadcast.  What a blessing this will be for my sister in Christ. Thank you so much for your continuum of open transparency."

"Hi, Pastor Betters. It's your long distance son, Kerry from Chicago. Just wanted to both thank you and encourage you for, once again, preaching...There have been many tears shed in my life since that time, but those sermons and your Romans 9 teachings have kept me in a ways only God can explain. I am categorically comforted in my trials every time I think about those scriptures. It is impossible for me to miss God's timing or his destiny for my life....I am in tears as I write this email, because I feel like you've been God's angel sent to me for these past long and weary 4 years. And you will continue to be my angel and top go to preacher until I meet my divine destiny. I love you....Your preaching gift and delivery style has impacted my life, and you are one of those people who helped make a radical change in my spiritual walk and theological thought-base. Now and for years to come, when people ask me, "When did God really give you an understanding of who he is character-wise, and experientially?”, I'll say without hesitation "When he introduced me to Dr. Chuck Betters of MARKINC. I'll remember you until I'm 100 years old, God willing I live that long. Take care"

“I received your CD today.  Thank you!  It was a wonderful treasure for me.  For the first time, I feel like there is someone who truly relates to what I am feeling.  I cannot tell you how very much I appreciated you and your husband’s utter honesty.  Since the loss of my daughter, I have experienced so many different emotions….I have realized that it’s through our honesty that God receives glory.  God is using your ministry in a mighty way.  I know that you would rather have your child back however, I hope it brings some sort of consolation to you to see how the Lord is bringing forth beauty from ash.  I pray that in time, He will do the same with my loss."

“A few days ago I received the CD on Alcoholism with the interview with Steve and Tracy.  I had it on the desk and today I finally got up the courage to listen to it.  I am married and my husband suffers with alcoholism and I can relate to Tracy on many aspects.  Our children have issues that stem from his problem but I believe God is going to deliver all of us from this.  Would you please pray for all of us, that God’s will be done in our home and lives.  May the Lord bless your ministry.  Thank you”

"I was listening today to an interview with Dr. Betters and his wife about losing a loved one and the different "firsts" that await the one left. My husband died suddenly but not unexpectedly on Nov. 5th. He was 75 yo and I am 62. We were happily married for 30 years and do not have children but a wonderful church family and dear friends. This will not only be my first Christmas without him but it was also his birthday followed the day after by my birthday. Our Heavenly Father is good and only does good and He is greatly sustaining me during this time. I found the interview very helpful and would like to listen to it again!"

I’ve been listening to you on the radio (AM 740 WVCH) for three years, and our family has visited your church.

I’ve heard you mention several times about the death of your son, how it affected your life and ministry. I could never truly relate to how you felt, until now. My 19 year old son took his life on Monday, 27 Feb. He was diagnosed with mild schizophrenia brought on by an excess production of dopamine and refused treatment/medicine. He was saved and baptized 6 years ago and we believe he is now with the Lord in heaven. It was easy for us to say, “Yes Lord,” during the good times. Now, during the bad times we are learning what it really means to trust in the Lord."

I recently lost my beloved husband of 44 ½ years.  He was my soul mate, my true love, the man I have always loved and will continue loving into eternity.  In His Grip is a lifeline for me.  Some days I am on my knees, thanking God for the faithful preaching that is helping me trust Him again.

"I am again prompted to tell you how very much I enjoyed the several sermons based upon the teachings out of the book of II Kings.  This is truly meat for a hungry spirit.  I have so longed for deeper messages, and I prayed earnestly for God to show me the "bigger picture" of the scriptures.  He led me to hear His sermons through your teachings, and I give Him honor and glory for doing so.  I also thank you for committing your life to carrying and delivering His message, and for seeking Him unapologetically.  God has used you to light a fire under me, and I thank Him for the pain"

"Sharon, excellent job today [at the women's conference]! You are truly a gifted teacher. I know I was not your intended audience (being a man) but as one who has lost two brothers in their 30s (both to drug overdoses) I have to tell you... losing a limb is preferable to losing a family member. I will pray for the success of your ministry."

"I recently started listening to your broadcast on WVCH. Today 7/25 I was very touched by your transparency in describing your experience in dealing with the loss of your son and difficulties of the pastor you counselled. I value a man who opens himself in the sharing of his personal experience with God."

" My Mom and Dad also sent for the Loss of a Child interview on CD of you and your wife regarding the death of your son. I am so sorry that happened and, at the same time, was so blessed by the words and heart of you and Sharon that came through on that CD. My husband and I had a daughter who was born with several severe birth defects back in 1988. After many years of struggle on all our parts, and to make a long difficult story short, she now lives with a pediatrician about 40 minutes from here. It is not the same as your loss, but it is a loss. We had so much of the anger and feelings that you described. I have been carrying so much guilt and shame with me for several years. Your interview relieved my soul. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your wife for your honesty and your gift to us."

"The words spoke last Wednesday or Thursday on Chuck Betters struggle with depression  were so powerful such as calling our suffering "Divine invasions" and the way God recognizes our suffering by holding us.  What beautiful, inspiring words!  Chuck is so blessed.  I have family members that suffer from depression and the words Chuck expressed have healing power.  I would like to order several copies. Thank you so much for a wonderful program!"

"I heard recently that you, Sharon, are coming to our church in Mckinney, TX for our ladies retreat! I was thrilled! 8 years ago we lost our son, Mark. It was nothing like losing a 16 year old but to hold that 11lb.baby boy and to never know what color his eyes would have been was devastating. I e-mailed you, Chuck, and you were so kind and compassionate. You were incredibly encouraging to my husband and I. We read your book and I was even feeling the need to share our story with others. We discovered how difficult it was to find others who could relate. Since then we have faced more devastation but His mercy overpowered it all! We have grown immensely in faith and I continue to feel Him gently prodding me to either write or just share our story to encourage others. I am so excited to meet you Sharon ! I still feel that He is wanting me to use our experiences to help others but I don't know how or when. Continuing to pray about it will give me that answer and listening to you on the 20th will be inspiring!
Looking forward to it!"
