Two Women - Help and Hope

One of my greatest joys is watching young women expressing their love for Jesus by touching other women's lives with the help and hope that only He can give.  Melissa and Shantelle are two of those special women who cannot keep the love of Jesus to themselves.  Melissa has organized teams of women to distribute our Learning to See When the Lights Go Out Audio Library at secular events.  For various reasons, the only one available to join Melissa at a recent Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event was Shantelle.  Instead of cancelling their passion, Melissa and Shantelle filled their backpacks with over 500 CDs, prayed, took a deep breath and watched as God immediately connected them with hundreds of women who gratefully received this free gift, our Breast Cancer CD. You can read Shantelle's thoughts about this event in yesterday's post, Two Women, Nothing Except....Part 3.

I'm so grateful for such faithful women who are fearless in sharing their hearts with other women.  And I'm so grateful for those who make the production and distribution of these resources as gifts possible through their giving.  There is an ever-widening circle of touching lives with the gospel, as these little missionary missles of help and hope open doors for conversation and sharing the Gospel.  Check out the different topics on my Free Resources Page..  They not only encourage the broken person but they also help equip the one who wants to help. And now, let's hear from Melissa.

Melissa's Story

Needless to say the walk was amazing and Shantelle and I make such an incredible team! To think 2 girls could touch 500 people in a matter of only a couple hours is like living in a miracle only God could have orchestrated! It's difficult to capture everything about the day but here are a few highlights.
Shantelle and I began our mission bright and early at 8:00am at the Wilmington Riverfront as registration for the walk was just underway. We watched as hundreds of runners and walkers arrived many of which were wearing their team t-shirts and quickly we were surrounded by a crowd covered in PINK! One woman actually had a large sign that she wore over her shoulders and it was in memory of her daughter who had passed from breast cancer only 1 year ago. There were pictures of her beautiful daughter on the front and back, her daughter was only 39 years old. As we approached this woman and her husband and explained that the CD we were handing out was designed to give help and hope she immediately began to share her story, share her daughter's fight and share her pain. It only took a few seconds before she was brought to tears and so was I. She embraced me with a big hug and thanked me for having a resource like this for people like her.
Another woman I spoke with told me that she was there for her friend Diane who lived in San Francisco and was recently diagnosed. She said as soon as her friend called and told her the news she signed up to be a part of the walk and do what she could for the cause being 3000 miles away. After explaining the CD she told me it was “perfect and exactly what her friend needed!” She then told me that she would put it in the mail to her tomorrow. I gave her a hug, thanked her for being a great friend and told her we would keep Diane in our prayers!
Lastly, there was a women who heard us talking to some other ladies and as we began to make our way through the crowd she came walking up to me and asked me if she could have one too. Before I could get it in her hand she just started crying saying that she really needed something like this. She shared that she had fought the fight and is now able to say she is a survivor…and with that she broke down saying “my prayers were answered!."

Blessings - Melissa

If you feel God leading you to share these missiles of help and hope, whether it is through a display at your work place or a breast cancer event or other secular event where thousands of people are receptive to anything "free,"  let us know!  And if you are local to Delaware and want to join Melissa and Shantelle for future events, email me at sharon.betters@markinc.org and we'll connect you to them.

Next week, I plan to start sharing The Twelve Days of Christmas - Mary's Story.  Subscribe to my blog so you don't miss one treasure that God has for us from this amazing spiritual mother. I'll also share more details about our December drawing.  In the meantime, may you experience God's special blessings as you share His treasures of encouragement with others.
